Christie Brinkley Shows Her Real “Colours” when it comes to Health and Beauty!

The human eye can see 7,000,000 colours. Good luck naming them all!  Colours can greatly influence how we look, feel and even act.  Colours come into play in almost every aspect of our lives, so it’s important to understand how to harness the power of this complex chromatic spectrum. As the Kung Fu master once famously said: “choose wisely grass hopper.”

Here’s Christie’s take on the remarkable rainbow of choices:

FOOD:
I’ve been a vegetarian since I was about 12 years old.  I can tell you why I made this choice in 5 easy words: “A trip to the slaughterhouse.”

I’m not saying you have to be a vegetarian to be healthy, not at all, it’s just my personal choice.

I go for as many colours in food as possible in a day, that way I get all the nutrients I need.  The deep greens, yellows, reds, oranges, purples – all of that.  In other words: “eat the rainbow!”  The legendary “pot of gold” at the end comes in the form of good health.  I love variety, and I incorporate the idea in my exercise routines as well (see my diet and exercise regimens at www.biosilusa.com)

SUPPLEMENTS:
I’m a firm believer that you should get as many nutrients as possible from your food, but a good supplement can work wonders!

Here, I choose BioSil blue (as in the color of their label).  I take BioSil every day, and  I’m amazed at the difference  I see in my skin, hair, and nails.  BioSil is clinically proven to generate lost collagen, add new collagen, and protect your existing collagen.  That’s important because we women lose 1.5% of our collagen every year past the age of 21. A good friend of mine told me “BioSil blue makes you look new.” Cute.

WARDROBE:
Meetings or men?  That, as Shakespeare once said, is the question.

Before you get dressed ask yourself, what is the role of my wardrobe today?  Are you dressing to “make a statement” about yourself, or are you dressing to look your absolute best?

For Business
I wear dark colours when I want to convey authority and power. You don’t want to sit at a table with a menagerie of males in serious navy pin stripe suits when you’re wrapped in a cheery little floral dress. For me, black and navy blue mean business.

Out and About
When I’m at a photo shoot, I have to wear whatever I’m handed.  But when I’m out and about, I like to wear colours that make me look good. I choose shades and hues that that complement my skin tone, eye colour, and hair colour. Today, talented stylists start the process of colour selection by assessing your skin tone.  They divide these tones into three large categories:  Warm. Cool. Neutral.  How do you know which one you are?

Leatrice Eiseman, the executive director of the Pantone Color Institute and author of “More Alive with Color”, breaks it all down for you. You’ll discover how to determine which “large category” you fall into, as well as which colours you can “borrow” from the other two groups.

But keep in mind, if you love a colour – one that makes you feel good – but it isn’t “flattering,” wear it as an accessory (think: belt, handbag, or shoes) or an article of clothing that’s far away from your face, like a pant or skirt, so that it doesn’t compete with your complexion.

YOU’RE WARM IF….
Your hair colour:         Ranges from dark brown to dark blonde hair.
Your skin tone:            Has a greenish or a yellowish (golden) undertone. Olive complexions also fall in the warm category.

Your go-to colours in the warm colour family: Oranges, reds, golden yellow, amber, honey gold.
Your go-to colours in the cool colour family: Warmer greens and blues, like olive, deeper turquoise, green moss, fern, pesto, red-purples (think: magenta and orchid shades).
Your neutrals: Taupe, hot chocolate, creamy whites, winter wheat, latte.
Colours that are tough for you: Icy shades, jeweled tones (amethyst, sapphire, ruby).

YOU’RE COOL IF….
Your hair colour:         It can range from very dark (blue black or very dark brown) to light blonde.
Your skin tone:            Has a bluish undertone. It can also range from very fair to very dark.

Your go-to colours in the cool colour family: Bright blue, royal blue, sapphire, emerald,
amethyst, deep purples, lavender, lilac snow.
Your go-to colours in the warm colour family: Shocking pick (versus hot pink, which is warm), cerise, ruby, bright rose.
Your neutrals: Gray, navy, pristine white.
Colours that are tough for you: Oranges and yellows.

YOU’RE NEUTRAL IF….

Your hair colour:         Is a combination of colours—blonde with ashy streaks or brown with warmer tones.
Your eye colour:          Is hazel (most neutrals have hazel eyes, because it changes depending on what colour they wear).
Your skin tone:            Hard to determine—you can’t tell if you’re warm or cool.

Your go-to colours: Neutral colours that fall in the middle of the colour spectrum. Look for light peach, dusty pinks, soft rose, peony pink (blush-toned pinks look best for neutrals), placid blue, jade green, cameo green.
Colours that are tough for you: Anything too bright or vibrant that can overwhelm, reds and yellows (if you do a yellow, try a soft version, like cornsilk or buff).
Your neutrals: Taupes, grays, off-whites (like vanilla).
